  1. UDP EndPoints

UDP endpoints would allow for full RTP/RTCP/RTSP media streaming implementations as well custom protocols for game systems.

    • Managed VMs

Most of the projects that we handle does not use a pure Microsoft stack or may require a third party software to be pre-installed. Managed VMs will give the clients to pick, choose and install their software combinations that they are most comfortable with while they rely on Microsoft for hosting.

      • Please reduce the billing for the stopped virtual machines

This is one of a drawback my customer pointing out in Azure. Currently the billing continues when the VMs are stopped. The message shows "Stopped virtual machines continue to incur compute charges. If you do not wish to be charged, delete this virtual machine."

Issue is, once the VM created we are installing required softwares and does some work. When the users are not in office, they are ready to stop the system and free from the hardware resource used for that VM. But to avoid the billing for the unused VMs, we required to delete the VM instead of…

        • Provide a way to increase the size of the C drive in VM

Currently, the C drive limited to 30 GB in Size. When a developer using the system, it requires having additional space for installing some development tools such as Visual Studio, SQL Server etc., which is going more the limit of 30 GB.

Also in most of the scenario, it is required to increase the size of the disk which is impossible currently in direct way. So please provide a way extend and shrink the volume size easily from the portal itself.

At PDC 2010, Microsoft announced Virtual Machine Role support for Windows Server 2008 R2 in Windows Azure. Windows Azure Virtual Machine Role eases the migration of existing Windows Server applications to Windows Azure by eliminating the need to make costly application changes and enables customers to quickly access their existing business data from the cloud. A public beta will be available by the end of 2010.

What else would help you migrate your applications more easily?

            • Either permit configuring ranges of endpoints or permit forwarding all traffic to the virtual machine.

Being limited to creating endpoints one port at a time has severaly limited what I can do with my virtual machine.

              • Mounting BLOB storage as shared folder or drive

This idea is specular to the one I just posted in Linux section.

Suppose you have several VMs that need to share files, and you are using LEGACY applications that rely on file system paths. My idea is to mount a BLOB storage as a shared drive (like X:\) in Windows file system.

Legacy apps won't have to be rewritten to support the storage APIs for .NET: they just need to be reconfigured to load files from a virtual directory that is instead a blob storage shared across several VMs

                • Virtual machine console access

There is no VMConnect capability for console access to the VM as there is with Hyper-V.

So in the situation where I lost connectivity, by misconfiguration, or system failure, is there only one very time and bandwith consuming way to fix it - download the VHDs on-premise, boot it in Hyper-V and VMConnect to repair VM, then upload all GBs back to the Azure...

I requesting console access, also with ability to mount some image for repair and boot from it (as we do it in standard environment).

                  • Allow DNS changes after VM / Cloud Service is created

Allow DNS for a VM to be changed after the VM is created. Currently DNS settings can only be set when the VM / Cloud service is created which is a problematic limitation when trying to setup Active Directory entirely in the cloud, or if DNS servers ever change IPs, etc.

                    • Display VHD name in Virtual Machines -> Images (in preview portal)

When you create a new VHD, you are able to give it a "friendly" name (e.g., "ExchangeStorage"). Unfortunately, this name is ONLY displayed in the Storage --> Containers --> VHDS area. A different name is displayed in Virtual Machines -> Images. It makes it a little difficult to correlate which storage VHD drive is associated with which VM drive. The only way to do it was to correlate based on the HTTP address.

                      I suggest that:
                      • In Virtual Machines -> Images, add a column with the VHD image name.
                      • In Storage --> Containers --> VHDS, include the drive…

                      • Provide a watchdog service

Provide a watchdog service that can be configured to watch Azure VMs and Web Roles for problems - services down, excess CPU usage, out of memory conditions, poor response time, out of disk space, etc. Provide configurable alerts via e-mail, SMS, etc.

                        • Provide indication of OS type when viewing Virtual Machine list and instance details.

Provide an icon or some other visual indicator of the type of operating system the Virtual Machine instance is running. This would be helpful on both the page listing all VMs, as well in the 'quick glance' section when viewing a specific VM.

                          • Allow VMs in different Cloud Services to be grouped into the same Availability Group

VMs cannot be grouped into the same Availability Group unless they are also grouped into the same Cloud Service, which, with the current limitations of Cloud Services, forces all of the VMs behind the same public IP / DNS name. This is a limitation that prevents us from hosting the same service on the same port on two different VMs in the same Availability Group.

                              • Please provide a way for grouping the endpoints and assign as a group name to the Azure VMs

We are adding endpoints for each virtual machine once created. Normally the RDP endpoint will be created by default, and can be added more if required by specifying the port #. I feel there are additional features needed to make this feature more flexible and to secure them in a centralized place. Some are -

                                1. The endpoints are configured by defining the ports, but it is not accepting whether the ports are inbound or outbound. So, there should be an option to include the port to open for inbound or outbound instead of configuring in the VM.

                                2. There…
