Allow control of storage account DefaultServiceVersion through Azure Panel for true HTTP/1.1
By default, when a new Storage Account is created, the DefaultServiceVersion property is set to 2009-09-19, which is really old. Many storage accounts created now don't need backwards compatibility with this very old version.
It would be very useful to allow control of DefaultServiceVersion through Azure control panel or better, when creating a new Storage Account (same way you can select Windows release when creating VM) so that one can select it to a more recent version and thus allow storage account to respond to HTTP/1.1 Range request.5 votes -

Dynamic Instances
Support dynamic instance loading in the cloud such that we pay for and reserve a maximum number of instances and the cloud decides how many instances to have loaded at any given time. A lot of applications can have short periods of high demand however is does not make any sense to keep a heap of instances active when they are all idle. Each instance would be like a traditional website and cost $100 per year per instance.

Add a high resolution icon to the portal
The portal doesn't have a high res icon yet. When the website is pinned on the taskbar or the start screen on Windows 8, the icon looks ugly.
Just add a high resolution icon to have a better quality.4 votes -

Take SQL off Azures
I've been told SQL Azure runs on the Azures platform, hence, the GB limit. It needs to be built out where we can control where data resides and/or even be replicated. i.e. Federated views and replication. Amazon RDS is a nice start for ideas

Able to monitor transaction usage
Partner urgently request the feature to monitor transaction usage of both Access Control and storage for billing and cross-charging purposes. Is there a solution to determine the number of consumed transactions?

network adapter is reset when vm is resized
Please preserve my settings when resizing a VM. If I lose the network adapter settings then the services on that VM can no longer locate the correct DNS servers. This partly stems from not being able to modify the VNet once it's created and in use. The VNet needs far more flexibility but at the very least preserving my settings would be a help.

Different pricing models for Windows Azure Queue Service and AppFabric Service Bus
Different pricing models for Windows Azure Queue Service and AppFabric Service Bus to lower barrier to entry – for example the current per-transaction cost for using Queue Service for asynchronous communication models makes it cost-prohibitive in many cases for people to use appropriately (but that is the type of cloud-optimized application architecture we want people to build)

Show Errors that Forced a Role Into Recycling
When a role starts recycling because of unhandled exceptions, those errors should be trapped (along with stack traces) and be viewable on the instance page. That way I don't have a role instance errored out and have to dig through WADLogs to find out why.

Allow DEV/Staging/Prod settings in CSCFG
Allow for specific settings for each environment, such as storage location, which I might want to be different for DEV, Staging and Production. Right now I have to manually change the file for each deploy.

Make 3rd party programs more readily availible on Azure
There's many great 3rd party programs but they go unheard of and rarely bought so if Azure can make those programs more accessible (like have it preinstalled) then it would be great.

Instance(s) Down Maintenance Message
I thought it a great idea to have the Windows Azure platform automatically display a site "maintenance" message to the site vistors (web role) when the load balancer is not able to connect to any of the configured web role instances. This "maintenance" message should be customizable (HTML/CSS).

Ability to increase the maximum file upload size above 8mb in Azure Web Sites
Azure Web Sites is a fantastic alternative to spinning up an entire VM. But I can't even important my own Wordpress blog, several years in the running, because it has files over 8mb large. This destroys the chances of any legitimate web app running on Web Sites.
We need to be able to increase this upload size to serious numbers so php apps can actually *do* things - or else Web Sites is useless except for small, HTML-only sites.

Like DEV version of SQL, you need to seriously think of having a DEV version for AZURE, a lot hlpful
Like there is a developer version of MS SQL which is extremly cost effective for developers, we need to have a DEVELOPER account for AZURE services which will be extremely low cost and which will contain all the services of AZURE so that more developer resource spread AZURE based projects...
